FeM Synth Lab x Warp Records: Intro to Marketing and Digital Distribution w/ Kara Kokinos and Yibing Guo

Saturday October 17, 2020 // 11:00am–1:00pm

You’ve made the music, now what? FeM Synth Lab and Warp Records welcome digital marketing professionals Kara Kokinos (Digital Channel Manager, Warp Records) and Yibing Guo (Digital Marketing Manager, Sony) for an introduction on how to get your music out into the world. They will cover topics such as building successful marketing campaigns, social media, visual branding & more. Beginners welcome!

This event prioritizes all marginalized genders, including but not limited to trans women, cis women, trans men, non-binary, intersex, gender nonconforming, two-spirit and questioning folx. We ask that our cis male allies and friends respectfully do not sign up, as we recognize that electronic music is overwhelmingly dominated by cis men.

Kara Kokinos takes a grassroots approach to amplify music of all genres. Utilizing a background in music journalism & PR, they build campaigns with engaging narratives & strong visual branding that maximize ROI. Currently residing in NYC, Kara works for Warp Records as the US Digital Channel Manager, specializing in social media & digital marketing, & freelancing as a photographer & videographer. They are passionate about giving back to their communities & engage in various organizations dedicated to systemic issues, including racial justice & LGBTQIA rights.

Yibing Guo is an international digital marketing manager at Columbia Records. She works on amplifying digital campaigns around the world for artists such as Polo G, Rosalía, and blink-182. Her favorite campaign to date has been the island of Eroda for the roll out of Harry Styles’ “Adore You” single. What she likes the most about her job is reading fan conspiracy theories on Twitter about the artists she works. What she hates most is how easily she can fall into a TikTok rabbit hole. Yibing also moonlights as production assistant for long-running electronic music radio show Beats in Space and DJs.
